I’ve been creating some video content for my Cert IV students and thought I might share it with all of you too, in case you find it interesting!
In this video I take you through how I run a wedding rehearsal. Please note this is only how I do it; I don’t expect you or anyone else to do it this way, but hopefully it will give you some ideas. Remember my philosophy with these things is that you should collect as much information from as many celebrants as possible, pick what you like and what you don’t, and hopefully that will help to inform the way you do things!
Big shout out to Jack from Oneheart Studios for creating this video, to David Schneider from Professional Ceremonies for allowing me to use his chapel to film it, and to my celebuddies David, Amber, Klara and Sam for playing the couple and their attendants!
Watch it here:
This is so great to watch another Celebrant run a rehearsal – I filmed something similar a few months ago, I’ll be in touch to talk to you more about it.
My Gosh watching this video , I so wish I had you for my Cert
1V in Celebrancy when I did mine.
Just watching this certainly makes me see how much I didn’t learn from the course I did to be a Celebrant.
Thank you for sharing Sarah, you really are the best at what you do.
I can say all that have you as their teacher, will be awesome Celebrants.
I learn as I go from each Wedding I love to do, and from watching other awesome Celebrants .
I can say I get more confident and wiser in each that I do.
Also a big thanks to the Celebrant Institute, you and Josh pretty much cover everything to do with Celebrancy and it really takes the pressure off anything I’ m not sure on.
Grateful
Deb
You’re so welcome Deb!
Amazing to watch how another celebrant does a rehearsal, thank you for sharing this Sarah!
I do the ‘I’m in charge’ speech too… Warn them that I’ll use my ‘Mum’ voice haha.
The left-hand shake is a great tip… How simple yet effective…
Deb
Hi Sarah!
I was hoping to watch this before my rehearsal on Friday but there doesn’t seem to be a video attached? 🙂
Tam
I fixed it Tamika! It should work now!
Thank you!
Hi Sarah! I would love to watch this before my rehearsal at the end of the week, but it doesn’t seem to be working at the moment 🙁 Is it still possible to access the video? Thanks so much! Tori
Apologies Tori, I broke it again but I’ve fixed it now!
Fantastic video, thank you for explaining everything so clearly it will really help when I run my first rehearsal. I especially found it very helpful learning where to stand at different points.
Melissa
Thanks Sarah!
Super useful video, I literally have it saved in my “Favorites”
For some reason, the rehearsal makes me more nervous then the ceremony itself! haha I can’t explain it.
But having it explain so thoughtfully and thoroughly is mega handy!
Love this Sarah and the left-handed handshake = gold! Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Sarah, this video was so helpful in preparing me for my first big wedding. I’ve done about 10 legals only, so I haven’t had to do much prep work before. I’m feeling much more comfortable now after watching this as I just want to maintain a professional approach.
Thanks again, for all the advice.
