Kelly asks:
I am doing a backyard wedding next week (the couple have changed their mind at the last minute) so do I need to put their street address as the location, along with the town and state? I can’t find any guidance in the Guidelines about how nailed down the location has to be but I remember in my Cert IV that I had to write location as well as town and state.
Yes, that’s right, street address where you would usually put the venue name. So 1200 Malvern Road, Glen Iris, Victoria, for a backyard wedding, where if it was in a venue you’d put Mr Foxx, Glen Iris, Victoria. I always look for three pieces of information for the address: either street address, suburb and state, or venue name, suburb and state.
I am having a similar issue. The ceremony is just outside their backyard and technically in a nature reserve. At the moment the NOIM says the reserve with the postcode and state (the suburb is included in the name of the reserve, “Wanniassa Hills Reserve”). The reserve goes through a couple of suburbs though so I’m not sure how specific I should be. Do I put down coordinates?
Hi Annie-Lea, I’d still be putting the suburb, so Wanniassa Hills Reserve, Wanniassa, ACT 🙂 I wouldn’t worry too much about coordinates; the Royal Botanic Gardens in Melbourne are huge, but I still just put Royal Botanic Gardens, South Yarra, VIC. Nobody is particularly worried about exactly where the marriage took place, just a general location!
I have filled out the certificate 16 and the couple have just changed locations a week out. Can I cross out and correct or do I need a brand new form?
For the BDM certificate you can just cross it out. For the presentation certificate you give to the couple, you have to do a new one 🙂
