I’ve been telling couples that after their marriage ceremony the Queensland Births, Deaths, and Marriages will email them with “an opportunity to order their marriage certificate” but I had not actually seen one of those emails yet. I’m guessing you hadn’t either.

I know this isn’t fascinating content, but it’s good to know what your clients are experiencing so you can coach them into it and cement yourself as an expert in this field.

So here’s what the Qld BDM emails a couple after you register a marriage online with them:

Thank you for your application received at the Queensland Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages on {date}.
We need your payment of {amount}, before we can process your application.
To do this, please go to qld.gov.au/paybdm and:

  1. Enter this Reference Number: {reference number}
  2. Pay for your order using a valid credit card (MasterCard or Visa only)

We will cancel your certificate application in 60 days if we don’t hear from you.
