Being a celebrant involves far more than understanding paperwork and legal processes.
You’re helping guide people through some of the most important moments of their lives.
You need to know how to communicate clearly, create ceremonies that feel personal and genuine, and stand in front of a room with confidence and calmness.
The Celebrant Institute was built around preparing students for the realities of celebrancy work, not just helping them tick off the tasks at hand.
Training focuses on both the legal and practical sides of celebrancy, helping students develop the communication skills and professional knowledge needed to step into the role confidently after graduation.
This course is for you if:
The CHC41015 Certificate IV in Celebrancy covers the skills and knowledge required to work professionally as a celebrant.
Throughout the course, you’ll learn how to:
Your training will cover weddings, funerals, namings, vow renewals, and other ceremonies, alongside the communication and organisational skills required for professional practice.
Assessment is practical and theoretical. Students both plan and conduct ceremonies, including at least one delivered to 20 or more people.
The overall goal is simple; to help students graduate feeling confident, supported, and ready to get out in to the real world.
Like all things worth doing, becoming a celebrant takes work.
Your actual path to qualification, however, is straightforward:
Choose your preferred intake date, and submit your application at least one week before the course begins
Take an online literacy and numeracy assessment, followed by a pre-enrolment Zoom interview
The course is delivered fully online, and self-paced over 12 months.
Students complete 20 modules, supported by comprehensive learning materials, extensive assessment tasks, and fortnightly Zoom Q&A sessions
Once you’ve successfully completed your qualification, you can apply to the Commonwealth Attorney-General’s Department to become a registered Marriage Celebrant.
Government processing times are generally up to six months.
After that, you’ll be a fully-qualified celebrant, ready to start your new future.
We’re not your only choice for training as a celebrant.
We do believe, however, that we’re your top option.
